Welcome to the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) 2012 Volunteer Registration site.

Background:
  • Youth Science Canada (YSC) has been engaging Canadian youth in scientific inquiry since 1962 and celebrated the 50th anniversary of its flagship program, the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF), in May 2011.
  • YSC is best known for the National Science Fairs program, which starts with kids in schools and homes across Canada working on projects. Over 100 affiliated regional science fairs in every province and territory provide about 25,000 of those students with the opportunity to showcase their projects, participate in science-based activities, and interact with scientists, engineers, and educators who evaluate their work - and select the 500 CWSF finalists.
  • The CWSF brings together these top young scientists, in grades 7 to 12, for a week of fun, inspiration, networking - and competition for nearly $1M in prizes, scholarships, trips, and other awards. Their projects tackle challenges in discovery, energy, environment, health, information, innovation and resources. Judges include top scientists, industry experts and educators.
  • CWSF 2012 will take place May 12-19 at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). The event is organized by YSC and the local Host Committee with support from the federal and provincial government and private sector sponsors. This year marks the first time that PEI has hosted this prestigious event.
  • In addition to the science competition, a variety of events are planned for the participants, including scientific and cultural activities, social and recreational events, tours to local points of interest, the awards ceremony and banquet, and a closing event.
